This is the terrain of mythosomatic work.  The body is the portal and it is the ground.  Through simple exercises and hands on work, we address the “issues in the tissues” and begin to access your original blueprint.  The mind can be a masterful trickster, the body will not lie.  The body is reliable.  Re-establishing this trust is one of the foundational keys to regulating the nervous system and contacting your truest Myth.  Through the vehicle of the intelligent body, we find our resources, we learn to differentiate the misperceptions we carry from the golden threads of truth.

We may enter the realm of our ancestors, and also of the young parts that reside within, in a sense our inner progeny, and attend to their wounds and confusions.  They display their story for us to both perceive with inner vision and through the felt sensations of our body, coming to know intimately, without necessarily being able to explain how,  their own deepest experience.  Other times we experience this as an outer resource that hence forth supports us in whole-ing.  And we do all of this within the context and perspective of wholeness.  Knowing that you cannot be broken.

Rather than the body mind connection, mythosomatic is the body soul connection.  And connection is a misnomer as they are one and the same.  The act of embodiment is ensoul-ment and vice versa.  And thus in a session we may approach through body or we may approach through the archway of soul, or both simultaneously.  We give genuine faith to the process and an alchemy occurs.   We embody soul and ensoul body.  They are one and yet experienced as two in order to experience the intimacy available within when they re find each other.  Two beloved separated by an illusion, re united.

What is mythosomatic.

Mythos- the story held in our bones

Soma - the felt sense of our intelligent living body

MYTHOSOMATIC -

- exploring the stories held in our body, both false and true, and finding understanding, re-connection and resolution through direct attunement with our experience.

Mythos is the story- the tales woven in our bones.  The symbols passed through the generations of our lineages, of the lands in which we live, and the ones we create as children.  I use the term Mythosomatic as a way to convey the complex rich nature of the work we can do together.

We have been taught that Myth means false, made up, or of dubious and cloudy origins.   This is a misrepresentation of the word.  True myth is the land of the archetype, the domain of soul, and carries the signature of our deepest purpose and wildest longings.  We all carry fragments of myths in the tissue of our body, often forgetting, like a kind of amnesia, the fullness of the original telling.  It is our deepest soul purpose to re-discover our actual nature as the hero or heroine of the tale we inexplicably find ourselves in.

We are born with the blueprint of our true Myth.  The song of our soul.  The essence of the totality, our vital body, and our unique self, interwoven.  But few of us in this modern world are seen for who we truly are.  In the olden days, the long, long ago days, our tribal family would have dreamed of us before we were even conceived.  They would have known what we were coming for.  They would have been prepared to hold the mirror of their welcoming eyes, for us to remember who we were and why we’d come.  There would be a place for us, no matter how unusual our role.

Today, do any of us get the reception and recognition we are meant to at our birth?  Way too few.  I certainly did not.

Humans are story makers.  When we arrive in an unknown land and are not greeted appropriately, or don’t receive the nurture, encouragement, and love we need, we make our own fables.  We create plot lines to follow, to make sense of the nonsense we are immersed in.  We find explanations for why we feel the way we feel, or why the adults treat us this way.

It is not only the mind making stories.  Our body interprets events into story long before we are conscious of being a self.  Our dear body records every detail, every sensation, every connection and abandonment, and makes meaning, in its own organic sense-based way.

The body is where your Myth, with a capital “M”, your true soul story, and your fables meet.  It is here that we enter the gates to unravel, to delve deep, to quest for the grail of your true essence.  To gather the scattered fragments and re-weave your unique cloth.
